A local charity that has been distributing food parcels since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020 recently recorded its biggest drop off to date.

Planet Mercy UK delivered 250 food parcels which included emergency requests in December.

The charity which offers support to communities in Oldham, Rochdale, Bury, Middleton, Heywood and Manchester in Greater Manchester, enlisted the help of 60 volunteers to pack the parcels.

Each parcel delivered includes essential food items such as fresh fruit and veg as well as cooked food.

Mohammed Moheeb, speaking on behalf of the charity, said: "A big thank you to our volunteers who ensure we can operate.

"As ever, our hand on heart thanks go out to FareShare Greater Manchester who provide us a large portion of the food parcel contents ensuring our families get a high-quality meal each week.

"We operate a 100% donation policy; all our volunteers donate their time and service, so we ensure that every penny donated is spent on the food parcels."
