Ayrshire Cancer Support were delighted to have been nominated by Ayr Amateur Opera Company as their chosen charity at their recent performance of The Wedding Singer at The Gaiety Theatre.

And the company certainly hit the right notes as they managed to raise nearly £1000 for the Ayrshire charity.

Michael McCabe, spokesperson for Ayr Amateur Opera Company said: “Every year, Ayr Amateur Opera Company choose a charity to collect for at the end of our shows.

“This year our own annual show sponsor, Innovec Ltd, are also a corporate supporter of Ayrshire Cancer Support, so we had a look into what they do and our decision was an easy one.

“We are delighted with the total raised, and would like to extend our thanks to all who donated, and to The Gaiety staff and volunteers for their hard work collecting.”

Carol-Anne Lamont, of Ayrshire Cancer Support, said:  “We would like to thank all involved with Ayr Amateur Opera Company for nominating Ayrshire Cancer Support as the benefitting charity from the end of performance collection and to all attending the show who donated so generously, this was a fantastic sum raised over four Thursday to Sunday Shows, and we are truly thankful to receive £905.22.

“Support such as this will help allow us continue to provide essential free services to children, young people and adults affected by cancer throughout Ayrshire.”
