Performing Arts students have celebrated their first production coming to a close since the start of the pandemic.

The students at Coleg Llandrillo in Rhos-on-Sea have recently performed ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, in front of appreciative audiences.

Over 20 second year students put the production together, as well as creating a social media marketing campaign to advertise the show.

Auditions opened last September and through rehearsals and production meetings, students were able to create a full-scale show.

Kyle Whitfield, who played the role of Bottom, said: "Learning a Shakespearian piece is a challenging venture, especially for a first show.

"It was a rewarding production, and we all felt a large sense of achievement at the final curtain."

The performance was supported technically by several first-year students, who only joined the production a week before the first performance, managing the sound, lighting and cueing to a very high standard.

Jon Crowther, programme leader - Level 3 Performing & Production Arts, said: "The students have had a very challenging and limiting time due to the pandemic, and this project empowered, enthused and engaged all students to give them something to really get their teeth into.

"We are very proud of their achievement in putting a project of this size together during testing times.”
