Person rescued after car crashes into steep ditch in Bampton

A person had to be rescued from a vehicle following a road traffic accident in Bampton.

Crews from Tiverton, Dulverton and Middlemoor along with the heavy rescue vehicle from Middlemoor were called to Halfpenny Cross, Bampton, at around 4:40pm on Tuesday, December 8.

On arrival they found the driver still inside the car who was medically trapped after the car had left the road and down into a steep embankment.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: “Crews released the casualty using hydraulic rescue equipment, a tirfor winch and a stabfast for stability and left the casualty in the hands of the paramedics.

“Great teamwork from all involved.”
