Police to hold bike marking event in Hoddesdon

Bike marking can be a deterrent to would-be thieves

A free bike marking event is being held in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire to coincide with national Bike Week.  

The event will take place in Hoddesdon town centre on on Saturday, June 11 between 3 and 8pm. Broxbourne Safer Neighbourhood Team officers will be on hand to carry out the marking with BikeRegister stickers being provided free of charge.

BikeRegister is a national cycle database which is used by police forces across the UK to reunite hundreds of owners with their lost and stolen bikes every year.

Staff from Stanley Bridge Cycles and Evans Cycles will also be providing free cycle safety checks.

PC Matt Fuller, said: “Bike marking is a great deterrent, and it can also help us to reunite stolen bikes with their owners. The marking only takes a few moments and is free so if you can spare a few minutes come along and see us.”
