Youngsters attending a South Cheshire primary school are proud to belong to a school where everyone matters, Ofsted found.

Lead inspector Jackie Stillings, His Majesty’s Inspector (HMI), reached the conclusion after carrying out what is known as an inspection of a good school at Wrenbury Primary, Nantwich Road.

The school continues to be a good school, according to the HMI. Apart from their pride, the children are 'exceptionally well cared for' said the inspector. Pupils, including children in early years, are 'happy and safe in school'.

They value the many different experiences available to them and appreciate opportunities to represent their classmates through their various positions of responsibility which they carry out enthusiastically. They know that leaders value their opinions and listen to their ideas.

Pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), are fully involved in school life. Leaders have high expectations of pupils’ achievement and behaviour and pupils take great pride in their work and typically behave well.

Their individual needs are understood and well supported by staff while children in early years are well prepared for their next stage of education. Parents and carers who shared their views with the inspectors were 'overwhelmingly positive' about the school and would readily recommend it to others.

The curriculum is fine tuned continuously and leaders make sure that all pupils, including pupils with SEND and children in early years, build their learning well over time.

Curriculum leaders are knowledgeable about the subjects they lead. Teachers and pupils share their knowledge and love of reading with others enthusiastically and the children are avid readers.

Leaders ensure that staff, including in early years, know how to identify pupils’ additional needs. Teachers adapt their delivery of the curriculum effectively to support pupils with SEND to learn well.

Leaders ensure that all pupils have as broad and rich an experience as possible. Staff are proud to work at the school and their morale is high. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.

The school has 154 pupils age 3 to 11.

Governors have opened a nursery class for three-year-old children since the school was last inspected and the school operates a breakfast and after-school club.

During the visit, amongst other aspects, the inspectors spoke with the head teacher, other leaders and staff in school and paid particular regard to early reading, mathematics and history.
