It has been exactly a year since Reading Buses, in Reading, Berkshire suspended its Star of the Month Awards because of the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown.
As the pandemic forced people to stay at home in 2020 and with fewer customers travelling on the buses, the company recognised that the year wasn’t conducive to a stellar scheme.
The end of year Star of the Year Awards was replaced with a special GEM (Going the Extra Mile) Awards which recognised the heroes working on the frontline during the pandemic. The new awards attracted 134 nominations spread widely across the operation.
With vaccines being rolled out and 2021 looking brighter, Reading Buses are set to re-start their Star of the Month Awards and are inviting customers, employees and managers to nominate someone in the company whom they think has been consistently excellent, gone the extra mile or done something above and beyond the call of duty.
There’s an online nomination form here which is now live for this month’s re-launch.
Robert Williams, chief executive officer, said: "After the success of the GEM Awards in January we decided that the time was right to bring back our Star of the Month scheme to help recognise the hard work and dedication of our wonderful employees.
“We’re looking for nominations for anyone that a customer, employee or manager thinks has done something that little bit special.
“It may be someone who has helped you when you had a problem; some team members who worked together to solve a difficult situation; or perhaps it’s someone who is just brilliant all the time.
“We are looking for any of our amazing employees who have gone the extra mile to make your journey amazing; dazzled you with their kindness; gone beyond the call of duty; or done something remarkable.
“Whether it is a driver who is always cheery and brightens your day, a member of our customer service team who has been a huge help, an excellent engineer or one of our team doing great things - why not nominate them to show them what an excellent job they do.
“The first winners of this year’s Star of the month awards will be announced in April - we can’t wait to see who our worthy winner is.”
Reading Buses are looking for quality nominations to help show how amazing their team is, not only during the current difficult period, but also before and afterwards too.
