Reading arts group holds annual charity art exhibition this winter
Reading arts group holds annual charity art exhibition throughout November and December
Reading Guild of Artists (RGA) is holding its annual charity art exhibition.
The event opened on Monday, November 6 and is in full swing due to collaboration with Reading Buses, which is providing free advertising on some of its bus routes the for the duration of the exhibition, which runs until Saturday, December 16.
Anthony Wilder, chair of the RGA, said: “We were thrilled to be given the opportunity to advertise our annual charity art exhibition in such a high-profile way and I would like to thank Tony Pettitt, chief finance and information officer, Reading Buses, for getting on board with us and generously providing this for us. It has certainly increased the number of people visiting the exhibition which should, I hope, lead to more sales and therefore the donation we are able to make to The Royal Berkshire Hospital’s charity, the ‘Art and Garden Fund.’
“With advent nearly here and the lead up to Christmas in full swing, now could be the perfect time to pop along and find that unique gift. Perhaps you have an anniversary or special birthday coming up? Whatever the occasion, there is sure to be something to inspire.”
Annie Welch, a member of the RGA, who is exhibiting at the Hospital Charity art exhibition, said: “The theme of my art is nature. I am drawn to the infinite possibilities of form in nature – I like the minimal, pure form and use this method of printing to achieve the boldness and sharp lines to portray this.
“As an artist, I like to create art that resonates with myself and others. With ‘As One’, the linocut and watercolour is about harmony and going with the flow.”
The art exhibition can be found at Royal Berkshire Hospital's Level 2 Link Corridors, Craven Road, Reading, Berkshire.
Entrance is free and 25 per cent of the proceeds go to the hospital’s Art and Garden Fund.
