The multi storey car park at Reading station has failed to reopen on time.

The car park in Bagnall Way, Reading, Berkshire was due to reopen on Monday, May 21, after being closed for 10 weeks.

However, work to resurface and maintain the car park has met complications.

Although season ticket holders for the car park are still able to access spaces, those without will have to find somewhere else to park.

A spokeswoman from Network Rail said: "The top two levels of the multi storey car park at Reading station have been closed for the last 10 weeks, to allow for essential resurfacing and maintenance work.

"While this work is taking place, the two floors below, levels nine and 10, have also been closed to accommodate those parties affected by the closure of the upper two floors.

"During this work, the car park has only been open to season ticket holders and station staff.

"Unfortunately, due to overrunning maintenance work, the car park will not fully reopen as planned on Monday, May 21 and will remain accessible only to those with season tickets or who work at the station.

"We’d urge drivers without a season ticket to look for alternative parking and we would like to apologise for any disruption and inconvenience this causes. We will provide a further update in due course."

For those needing to park their cars, there are car parks in nearby Garrard Street and Chatham Place.
