Reading Station's multi storey car park will be closed for 10 weeks while maintenance work takes place.

The train station car park in Bagnall Way will only be open to season ticket holders and station staff while two levels are closed from Monday, March 5.

Drivers, who are not season ticket holders, may be turned away and urged to park elsewhere in Reading, Berkshire.

A spokesman from Network Rail, which manages the car park, said: "The top two levels will be closed for essential resurfacing and maintenance work.

"This work is expected to take 10 weeks to complete, during which time the car park will only be open to station staff and season ticket holders.

"Whilst the essential work is taking place on the top two levels, the two floors below, levels 9 and 10, will also be closed to accommodate those parties affected by the closure of the upper two floors.

"This will result in a reduction in the number of spaces available, with around 750 spaces unavailable for use during the maintenance works.

"As the car park currently operates with a 96 per cent occupancy rate when all levels are available, we are anticipating that spaces will rapidly become full, resulting in the regular closure of the car park due to 100 per cent occupancy.

"Car park staff will be manning the gate to advise customers of the availability of spaces and prevent people from purchasing tickets when the car park is full.

"Thank you for bearing with us while this essential work takes place to resurface the top two levels and improve the car park for our customers."
