Pupils from Portfield Primary Academy in Chichester, West Sussex, have received a donation of high visibility vests, armbands, and wristbands, as part of a Be Safe Be Seen campaign.

Local housebuilder, CALA Homes, has launched the initiative to help young people stay safe on the roads and school trips.

The 'Be Safe Be Seen' packs will ensure pupils are visible and safe on the way to and from school throughout the darker winter months.

Andrew Strong, headteacher at Portfield Primary Academy, said: “We will be using the jackets for local area trips and visits, and it will help us to ensure our pupils remain safe whilst out and about.

"I know the children they will love them, especially the slap bands and bags. Thank you once again to CALA Homes for the kind donation.”

Lauren Ryan, marketing manager for CALA Homes South Home Counties, said: "Health and safety is of vital importance to us at CALA and we are delighted to support Portfield Primary Academy with our 'Be Safe Be Seen' safety pack helping them stay safe in the darker winter months.

"Many of our developments are located close to schools so it makes perfect sense for us to do what we can to help pupils stay safe and seen as they walk to and from school.

"We hope that the reflective badges and vests will reinforce the importance of children being visible to motorists and the need for drivers to watch their speed, particularly in residential areas and around schools."
