Members of the Royal Navy's engagement team have paid a visit to Ninestiles, An Academy in Acocks Green, in Birmingham, in the West Midlands.
The team gave a presentation to year 8 students about the different roles in the Royal Navy, what service life is like, the educational gains, sporting and social opportunities that being in the navy offers and a general oversight into the careers available to Royal Navy personnel.
During the visit students also took part in a STEM workshop called ‘Stranded at Sea’ where they had to work together to design a signal flare.
Alex Hughes, principal at Ninestiles, An Academy said: "It was great to have representatives from the Royal Navy in to talk to Year 8 students.
"I hope their presentation got the students thinking about their future career options and I know the workshop was a fantastic opportunity for them to develop their teamwork skills."
"Hopefully, some budding engineers were revealed from the challenge to create a signal flare!"
