A local author's latest book is set to help young people improve their self-confidence.
Ex-teacher, education consultant, coach, and author Eleanor Baggaley's latest book aims to help teenagers become the best version of themselves by providing stories and examples to help them understand personal, social, and emotional development.
Eleanor's previous books have focused on fiction, and all took inspiration from her three young children, but her latest offering, Becoming the GOAT, is a self-help book aimed at a slightly older audience.
Becoming the GOAT also examines ways to overcome difficult obstacles in life, which children may struggle with.
The title refers to the pop-culture acronym GOAT, which stands for Greatest Of All Time.
Eleanor, who is based in Ryton, Tyne and Wear, said: "Unlike my other books, this one is a non-fiction book for teens, supporting them to be the best they can be and covering stuff they need to know about life that is not taught in schools.
"As children, in school we're expected to conform, we're all expected to look the same, behave the same, and achieve the same. But we're not the same.
"To excel beyond school, we must stand out, be ourselves and question the rules.
"We somehow expect students to simply switch between the two personas, almost overnight, to be successful in each environment.
"School does not always equip students for the real world in many cases. I've researched and written Becoming the GOAT to address the many aspects that are not taught in schools - the stuff teens need to know about life and about themselves to that they know where they're going, how to get there and how to do it with confidence by being themselves."
