Safe space gives domestic abuse victims something to bank on

THE Macclesfield branch of a high street bank has opened a safe space for victims of domestic abuse.

HSBC, on Castle Street, Macclesfield, Cheshire, provides a place for to contact help or a friend as well as to access specialist and professional support.

All staff have undergone a training programme.

The initiative, in conjunction with charity Hestia, has been rolled out at other HSBC branches across the country following a successful pilot in Southampton.

Branch manager Geoff Jones welcomed Macclesfield MP David Rutley to the outlet to show him the safe space.

Mr Rutley said: “It is essential that those experiencing domestic abuse and violence have a space they can go to for support and advice.

“Safe spaces can be a lifeline for these victims, and I am very pleased to see this initiative in our local HSBC UK branch.

“I hope anyone struggling through a challenging time will seek guidance and receive the help they need.”
