Service remembers the life of HRH the Duke of Edinburgh
The service was well attended within the Covid-19 restrictions
Tiverton remembered the late HRH the Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh with a special church service at St Peter's.
On Wednesday, April 14 at noon Rev Robert Gordon conducted the service in tribute to Prince Philip who died on Friday, April 9.
The service was well attended within the Covid-19 restrictions, and included the mayor and mayoress Councillor Colin and Mrs Elizabeth Slade, deputy mayor Councillor Sue Griggs, the chairman of Mid Devon District Council, Councillor Les Cruwys, and the leader of Mid Devon, Councillor Bob Deed, together with a number of fellow town and district councillors.
Cllr Slade said: "I think it most appropriate that the town remember Prince Philip.
"He gave a lifetime of faithful service to Her Majesty and the country and left a lasting legacy with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme which has benefitted so many Devon youngsters over the years.
"I am proud to have been able to attend this sad but important occasion which will probably be one of my last official engagements as mayor."
