Sevenoaks Suns put in a convincing display on Saturday as they comfortably beat Manchester Met Mystics 85-59 at Surrey Sports Park.

The win moves the side to a 3-0 record for the Women’s British Basketball League Championship this season, and saw them leapfrog their opponents in the process.

The Suns got off to a flying star and led at the end first quarter 20-10 after scoring 14 straight points, a lead which they held onto for the remainder of the match.

Manchester got back to within one shot in the third quarter, though the Suns pulled out of sight at the start of the final period, holding their opponents at bay and scoreless for four straight minutes.

Carr stole the show for the Suns with her match-high 18 points plus four rebounds and eight assists, though she was supported well by Ta’Yani Clark (12pts, six rebounds, seven assists) and Janice Monakana (13pts, four rebounds, two assists) from the bench.

Teenage prospect Asha Andrews got 15 minutes on the court and returned nine points in that time, while new signing Katrin Hulme made her debut for the club and contributed six points, three rebounds and three assists in her 17 minutes of action.

Lavinia Da Silva was also on the court for Sevenoaks once more having missed the WBBL Cup final following her call-up to the Portugal squad during the international break.

The 22-year-old’s 14 points was only second to her captain, while she led the match for rebounds with 11.

Sevenoaks’ next match is on Saturday March 13 against Durham Palatinates at the Queen Campus Sports Centre.
