Veterans celebrated Burns Night at Royal Star and Garter’s three homes. Royal Star and Garter residents were treated to a traditional Burns supper, entertained by bagpipes, and took part in themed activities to celebrate the special day on Tuesday, January 25.
The veterans tucked into a traditional Burns supper that included haggis, neeps, and tatties, all washed down with a dram or two of whisky.
In Surbiton, in London, resident Ken read out the famous Robert Burns poem, ‘Address to a Haggis’, before residents tucked into their meal.

Prior to that, a bagpiper performed in the home’s garden, with residents watching on from the dining and balcony areas. Later in the day, there was a Scotland quiz and whisky-tasting session.
A bagpiper also performed outside the home in Solihull, in the West Midlands, before residents enjoyed their Burns supper and ‘Address to a Haggis’. The home also hosted a Scottish-themed quiz and whisky-tasting session for the residents.
In High Wycombe, in Buckinghamshire, the staff decorated the home with bunting and Saltire flags. Residents there also took part in fun activities after enjoying their haggis.
