South Ayrshire Council achieve Recruit with Convictions Ambassador Status

South Ayrshire Council has achieved ‘Recruit with Convictions’ Ambassador Status- allowing them to provide suitable employment for people with convictions.

Recruit with Conviction Ltd is a not-for-profit company, which helps businesses to understand the issues and benefits from employing people with criminal records.

The council’s HR team carried out a full review of existing policies and procedures and undertook training to achieve Ambassador Status.

Within the local authorities in Ayrshire, the work has been promoted by the Community Justice Ayrshire Partnership.

Councillor Ian Davis, the council’s Portfolio Holder for ICT, HR and Finance, said: “I’m delighted that we’ve achieved this status.

“In the development of the revised procedures, our HR team undertook complex training and are now able to respond to a range of queries related to changes in law, fair decision making, and the Ambassador programme.”
