Council chiefs say the wage increase needed to reflect providers' 'high quality service'
Early learning and childcare providers across South Ayrshire will now be paid a minimum of 29p more per hour.
South Ayrshire Council has increased the payment to funded providers of early learning and childcare from £5.76 per hour to £6.05 per hour for children aged three to five- an increase of 29p- and from £5.76 per hour to £6.33 per hour for children aged two to three- an increase of 57p.
Councillor Stephen Ferry, the council’s spokesperson for Education, said: “This decision highlights the Council’s commitment to support local businesses, employers, children, and families.
“The increase will come as welcome news to many Early Learning and Childcare providers. They provide vital support, and it was important to ensure the hourly rate, reflected the high quality service they deliver.”
