South Ayrshire rural trainees make finals of ALBAS 22 award
The ALBAS play a vital role in promoting rural careers
Two South Ayrshire rural trainees have been short-listed for Lantra Scotland’s much-anticipated Awards for Land-based and Aquaculture Skills (the ALBAS).
Caroline Von Linden, 42, from Maybole, and William Yuille, 17, from Hollybush in Ayr, have been put forward for the awards which recognise and celebrate the achievements of trainees who work within land-based, aquaculture and environmental conservation industries.
Lantra’s work is supported by the Scottish Government.
Caroline (pictured above) is doing an Equido Level 4 at the Turnberry Hotel through Ross Dhu Equestrian Ltd. She said she is looking forward to completing the course before taking on her own Equido students to give others the opportunity to work in harmony with horses.
And William has been doing a Modern Apprenticeship in Agriculture at South Corton Farm through SRUC Barony.

He said: “Farming can be a very rewarding career working with machinery and animals, but it is a real honour being nominated for a Lantra Award.
“My future ambition is to spend a summer in New Zealand operating machinery and travelling.”
The winners will be announced at an award ceremony on Thursday, March 3 at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Dunblane Hydro.
