South Ayrshire schools design climate crisis calendars
Pupils designed calendars depicting the impacts of global warming and climate change
The Energy Agency School Calendar Awards ceremony was held at County Buildings in Ayr last week.
South Ayrshire primary schools were invited by the Energy Agency to participate in the competition to design a calendar raising awareness of the climate crisis.
Over 400 entries were received with this year’s winners including pupils as young as P3 and 4.
The 13 winners that feature on the front cover and each month of the year, plus six runners-up, attended along with their family, teachers and classes to collect their certificates and prizes.
The winning Primary Schools were Barr, Monkton, Maidens, St Ninians, Heathfield, Holmston, St Cuthbert’s, Minishant, Doonfoot, Crosshill, Forehill, St Patrick’s and Troon.
Local Councillors and South Ayrshire Council employees also took part in the celebration.
Provost Iain Campbell attended the ceremony and is pictured with the winners from across the schools, Elected Members and Liz Marquis, Director of The Energy Agency.
