St David's Hospice: Snowdonia Trail Series – Run! Walk! Raise funds for our hospice

St David’s Hospice invites you to take part in the Snowdonia Trail Series, a bespoke running and walking event open to all.

Suitable for both runners and walkers, the trail series has three separate events in some of the most stunning locations in North Wales.

The first event is a 10km night run/walk around Llanberis’ Llyn Padarn on Friday, March 11 (7pm), followed by a 10am start in the picturesque Betws y Coed (10km), with the finale on Sunday, March 13 to the stunning Aber Falls (7km) which follows the North Wales Coastal path.

St David’s Hospice Events Coordinator, Rhian Jacobs said: “This is an ideal event for those who have completed a Couch 2 5K and looking for another challenge to focus on. Alternatively for non-runners, you can choose to walk around and enjoy at a slower pace. You can take part one, two or all three of the days, completing the series you will receive a full set of bespoke interlinking medals.”

All participants must be over the age of 16. Registration for walkers is £16 per event, which includes a medal and £22 runners, which includes chip timing and a medal.  Alternatively, you can take part in all three events for a reduced entry fee: £39 (walkers) £49 (runners).

Sponsorship is optional, all funds raised from the event will go to funding hospice care for adult patients and their families living with life-limiting illnesses in Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey.

St David’s Hospice had a busy Christmas season with fundraising events.

The first Christmas Film Night at the Theatr Colwyn in Colwyn Bay was held on December 4. Over 100 guests enjoyed the festive favourite ‘Love Actually’ along with a welcome drink and a mince pie. During the evening a Lucky Dip competition was held with lots of fantastic prizes plus spot prizes for guests sitting in the ‘Lucky Seats’.

St David’s Hospice would like to thank the Manager of Theatr Colwyn, Phil Batty for his very generous help and support for this new event, along with all the staff and volunteers of both Theatr Colwyn and St David’s Hospice, who helped on the night.

Over £1000 was raised for local hospice care from both ticket sales and the fundraising on the evening. Thank you – St David’s Hospice look forward to seeing everyone all again at the next cinema night in 2022!

At the end of December, St David’s Hospice also held it’s first Llandudno Christmas Tree Festival in St John’s Methodist Church, in Llandudno. Over 30 trees were displayed for the six day festival.  Trees were generously provided by local schools, businesses and community groups filling the church for visitors to enjoy.

Community Fundraiser Adrian Owen said: “Fantastic feedback has been received, especially for the creativity and the inspiration of many of the trees on display. One tree on show was created by the local Vaccination Centre who’s decorations were made from recycled vile caps from the COVID vaccinations that they have been providing during these difficult times.

“St David’s Hospice would also like to thank Lyn and Alan from St John’s for helping stage the event and for the volunteers, from both the Church and the Hospice, for donating their time to help steward the festival.”

Due to the ongoing pandemic, unfortunately the planned Christmas Service and Christmas Fair was cancelled. However, the Festival raised £1000 for local hospice care.
