Staff from Hoddesdon Belmont View care home donate treats to NHS colleagues at Princess Alexandra Hospital

Staff from Belmont View care home in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire have donated treats to their NHS colleagues at Princess Alexandra Hospital.
The team - which has a good relationship with hospital staff - wanted to show that they are thinking of them and have their full support as they continue to work in challenging circumstances.
Lisa Hawes, one of Belmont Views care team managers, said: “Knowing how challenging it is at the moment and the long hours that hospital staff are working, we decided that we would donate treats that can be easily consumed on the go such as crisps, chocolates, biscuits and soft drinks.
“Some of our team donated goodies and snacks and others gave money.
“With the money we collected, we went to our local Morrisons supermarket and when they heard about what we were doing, the Morrisons team said they wanted to help too, so they kindly gave us a discount which enabled us to buy even more items.
“With everybody’s generosity, by the time we loaded up the car to deliver everything to the hospital, we nearly filled the whole car.
“We then drove to the hospital to drop the donations at the Accident and Emergency department.
“There were several ambulance staff who helped us unload the car so we were able to share some of the treats with them too.
“The whole team was really thankful for the gifts and I am so glad that we did it.
“We think the world of our NHS, and are so grateful for everything they are doing for us all.”
Sharon Howe, Belmont View’s home manager, added: “Throughout the pandemic our local friends, families and communities have been really generous and have donated all sorts of treats and goodies for the staff team here at Belmont View.
“We know how much these gifts have meant to us, and knowing that people are thinking of us has really kept us all going.
“That’s why it was so important to let our amazing NHS colleagues know that we are thinking of them too.”
