Stafford man releases first book with second due out soon

A Stafford man has launched his first novel, making use of his past career.

Kevin Parton, pictured above, is a former soldier and investigator whose travel and adventures have helped to influence his writing and stories. Beginning with the Anteros series of books, he aims to take readers on an adventure into the world of espionage.

Kevin made the most out of the Covid-19 by finally finding time to begin the series, which he’d had the idea for, for over a decade.

Now an electrician and plumber, lockdown left him stuck at home unable to work until the first lockdown was lifted, with plenty of time to write.

He managed to write the first book, Anteros Absolute Betrayal, in a number of weeks before it was released at the beginning of December 2021, with the second one just months away.

His travels and experiences, which have taken him across continents, have moulded his writing style and influenced his stories. Now putting pen to paper and using his knowledge of covert operations, he brings his character, Carl Parsons, to life and tells a story of love, deceit and danger.

The first book in the series, Anteros Absolute Betrayal tells the story of a young soldier becoming caught up in the plans of a corrupt politician who uses him to fight his enemies.

Carl Parsons is a nineteen-year-old disillusioned soldier who is selected and trained to carry out work as a spy and agent provocateur. He is taken away from everything that he knows by the beautiful Sarah and in her home town he is educated in all of the arts that he will need to seduce and kill as necessary.

When plans are interrupted by love, action is taken and Parsons is the one who suffers. In time he realises that he can trust no one!

The 47-year-old author from Stafford, Staffordshire said: “I started to write the books when lockdown began and I wrote the first draft of the first book in about three weeks.

“It is a tense thriller that takes the reader on an adventure into the covert world of espionage and deceit, travelling across continents, where characters that you will love and despise come alive.”

When asked about the idea for the story, Kevin explains: “The books have been in my head for over ten years and I finally found the time to write them due to lockdown. I wrote the second book straight after the first and that again took three to four weeks, as I already had the story in my head.

“I had planned to write three books in this series but due to positive feedback from readers, I may make it a larger series rather than a trilogy.

“The next one issue due in around three months once editing is complete, the book cover designed and internal layout completed.”

Kwvin added: “Becoming an author is amazing for me because I am dyslexic and to write a book series is a super achievement.

“The story means so much to me as parts of it are loosely based around some of my life experiences and adventures.”

Anteros Absolute Betrayal can be purchased in paperback on Amazon for £7.99.
