Stratton Upper School celebrates national apprenticeships week
'The day was a great success, and we look forward to providing our students with more initiatives like these in the future.'
Last week, Stratton Upper School celebrated national apprenticeships week by hosting an all-day apprenticeship careers fair for its students.
The event, which was organised for over 800 students at the school, helped to raise the profile of the apprenticeship opportunities on offer to its young people and provide apprenticeship and careers advice which was readily available throughout the day.
A diverse range of over 30 employers and work-based training providers participated in the event, including Liebherr, Kier Group, Copart UK, Metroline, KPMG and the NHS.

Representatives from both these local and national employers talked to students about their organisations, their individual careers and the different routes into their industry.
Local college and university representatives were also in attendance to discuss their courses and student life, with both the armed and emergency services also being represented.
Students were encouraged to act as professional prospective employees whilst attending the careers fair to help equip them with the skills and knowledge required for life beyond school.
Roz Hodges, principal at Stratton Upper School, said: “Stratton Upper School aims to raise the employability of young people and fill the local skills gaps by working with employers, education providers and learners.
"We want to make students more aware of the variety of opportunities available to them once they leave school and hope this event helped to achieve this.
“Thank you to the employers, colleges, training providers and universities who gave up their time to speak to our students at the apprenticeship careers fair and to Angela Manley, our amazing careers lead, who organised and managed the event – the day was a great success, and we look forward to providing our students with more initiatives like these in the future.”
