Avid gamer Jade Choudhury hosted a 24-hour streaming platform to raise funds for St Ann’s Hospice where she works.
The fundraising and communications assistant raised £244 from her venture which the hospice are hoping to repeat with more virtual events in the future.
Jade began her stream at 9am, raffling off prizes donated mostly by gaming companies during her global video game marathon.
She said: “The stream was a great experience and helped spread the name of St Ann’s Hospice across the world.
“Conventional means of fundraising will always be popular, but we’re trying to come up with new, exciting and more inventive ways of getting people on board with fundraising. That means pushing digital and streaming to the younger generations who are mostly focused on using social media platforms such as TikTok.
“There are more charity streams coming online and it’s not the first time someone has done such a thing for St Ann’s.
“The key is to target people you know and new viewers as well. Research and timing for certain video games is also important.”

Rachel McMillan, Chief Executive of St Ann’s said: “Huge thanks to Jade for taking on this brilliant 24-hour challenge to raise money for our patients.
“It’s been really hard fundraising during the pandemic, as many of our events and other activities in the community have had to be cancelled or changed due to restrictions. So we’re only able to carry on providing our care thanks to people like Jade who think of new ways to fundraise for St Ann’s. It makes such a difference to everyone here at the hospice.”
