Pulford took another big step towards the Premier division title with an emphatic victory over County Officers A by a scoreline of 8-2 with Simon Jones leading the way with a terrific unbeaten evening.
Backed up by teammates Andy Eagles and Neville Lacey the villagers have a match in hand of their rivals and are almost level on points. Newton B are comfortably in fourth position and led by Rosen Andeev they easily accounted for a weakened County Officers side by a similar scoreline.
Saughall Deva entertained fellow strugglers Newton D who included both Phil Luxon and Peter Morley but, led by Colin McEvoy the home side produced a scintillating performance and ran out surprising 6-4 winners to ease their relegation situation.Groves continue to head division 1 and with Graham Boyd leading the way they hit a maximum 10-0 scoreline against lowly Beechwood but Saughall Port remain favourites having games in hand over their rivals.
Neil Ayling hit two vital singles wins for Officers B against rivals Officers C and even though they lost 4-6 they moved off the bottom of the table. Elsewhere Mike Moss hit his usual maximum for Groves B against Newton E but such is the strength of the opponents they fought back to claim a 5-5 draw.
Newton H fielded their strongest team for only the second time this season and messrs, Hanif, Flowers and Watts duly obliged by inflicting the first defeat of the season on division 2 leaders Groves C with an impressive 7-3 success.
This opens up the second position and Philip Hough ensured that Groves D remain in contention defeating Saughall Inst 8-2 and Jim Whitaker led Gt Barrow to an important similar scoreline at County Officers F.
