The Land of the Fanns offers funding for Essex farmers
Up to £1,500 could be available for projects that benefit wildlife and the landscape
The Yellow Wagtail is just one example of local wildlife that would benefit from the scheme
The Land of the Fanns Landscape Partnership Scheme is a 5-year programme seeking to restore, discover and celebrate one of the last remaining landscapes of London as it once was.
Their current Farmed Landscape project aims to build connections between local farmers and non-Governmental organisations (NGOs), and has funds available for farmers to deliver small-scale projects such as creating and restoring ponds, planting new hedgerows, offering wild bird seed mixes and placing wildlife nest boxes.
The scheme is also assisting farmers with surveys and advice that will help prepare farmers for future funding opportunities such as ELMS (the Environmental Land Management Scheme).
Farmers within the Land of the Fanns area are invited to apply for grants of up to £1,500 to help with projects that deliver benefits for wildlife and the landscape.
The Land of the Fanns area extends from the River Rom/Beam in the west towards Basildon in the east and from Brentwood, Essex in the north to the River Thames.

The year-long project is being delivered in partnership with the RSPB, and also offers farmers the opportunity to benefit from surveys to assess the wildlife on their land.
Local farmers in the Land of the Fanns project area can get free farm visits and surveys and advice by contacting Landofthefanns@thameschase.org.
