The Little Theatre prepares for House Guest

The latest news from Southport's Little Theatre

What is on offer at the Little Theatre this week? Fame? Fortune? Kidnap? Murder? All four feature in the classic Francis Durbridge thriller House Guest which opens this Friday, 10th November.

Skilled director Mike Yates, ably assisted by wing woman and prompt Emma Wells-Hall has relished the challenge of drawing out the lovable (or loathable) in the characters that make up this pacey piece. His goal is for you to be immersed in the story and to come along for the ride.

The action takes place in the living room of a country house near Weybridge, in early spring, over the course of less than 24 hours. We meet celebrity couple Robert and Stella Drury as it is their home we are in.

Their life of luxury takes a sinister turn when their son Mike is kidnapped in Rome. Does the villain want money? Notoriety? No – he wishes to seek refuge at the Drury home for 48 hours.

Inspector Burford and Sgt Clayton soon arrive, and as the night unfolds there is not only a kidnapping, but also a murder. House Guest has been described as having so many twists that just as you think you have sussed it, something happens to change your mind.

None of the characters are immune from suspicion and this is a play that will keep you guessing right until the final denouement! House Guest opens on Friday 10th November at 7:30pm.

Our new season layout means that the second show on Saturday 11th November will be a 2:30pm matinee followed by a Q&A in the bar with the cast and director. The show then re-opens on Monday 13th November and runs at 7:30pm each evening until Saturday 18th November.

Also in rehearsal we have our traditional family pantomime, The Pied Piper. Tickets are selling quickly so be sure to book yours to avoid disappointment.
