The Little Theatre prepares for panto season

PIED PIPER: Rehearsals for the panto are in full swing

In less than two weeks, the curtain will rise on this year’s traditional family pantomime! The Pied Piper opens on Friday 22nd December 2023 and will be entertaining audiences from near and far until it comes to a close on Sunday 7th January 2024.

There are fifteen opportunities to see this vibrant show which will have you laughing, cheering, booing and having a little dance. Please check the website for details.

On Saturday 6th January 2024 both performances (2:30pm & 7:30pm) will have British Sign Language interpretation. Southport Dramatic Club is delighted to have such rich talent bringing you this festive feast.

In the director’s chair this year we have John Coates. John is an accomplished performer who developed his love for the theatre here in Southport.

His talent was identified and nurtured and he left town for the big city where he had a successful career in musicals. Family life lured him back to our coast and he is now a teacher and director, as well as a performer with Gambolling Arena. It is a real treat to have his input, and a wonderful learning opportunity for the cast too.

IT'S NEARLY TIME: The Pied Piper opens on Friday 22nd December 2023

Paul James Green is assistant director this year. He is no stranger to theatre goers who have enjoyed his turns on stage as well the many who he greets on front of house duties. Paul is a trained teacher, counsellor and playwright and an invaluable part of the panto puzzle.

Former chair, Diane Hutchinson is taking the role of producer – with a love of theatre and leadership skills aplenty, this is ideal. Harnessing the harmonies we have our musical director Joe Bloom and structuring the steps is choreographer Pippa Morris. Both of these terrifically talented teachers have also come through on our stage.

Dozens more of our volunteer members are assisting across the departments and we cannot wait for you to see the product of our hard work!

Hours of operation are 11am-1pm then again at 6pm when there is a performance.
