Three local carers are taking on a charity challenge to raise money for a dementia charity.

Staff from The Hall care home in Thornton-le-Dale, North Yorkshire will be skydiving to fundraise for Dementia Forward.

Dementia Forward is a Yorkshire-based charity providing support, advice and information to those affected by dementia across the county.

The event has been arranged by Edna Harris, deputy manager at the care home.

Edna said: "At The Hall, we care for many residents who live with some form of dementia, and we’ve seen how it affects them and their families.

"It’s heart-breaking.

"Dementia Forward is a fantastic, locally-based charity, which offers invaluable support to people, and we want to help their fantastic fundraising work.

"Of course, jumping 13,000 feet out of a moving aeroplane is pretty scary, but we’re up for the challenge!"

The skydive will take place on Sunday, March 20 and the team are hoping to raise £500 for the charity.

Chris Mitchell, chairman at Park Lane Healthcare, said: "We’re incredibly proud of all of our staff, and this is a very worthy cause for fundraising.

"I know the residents are going to love seeing the photos and hearing about the sky dive afterwards."
