Two Derbyshire nine-year-olds hike for Macmillan

Two nine-year-olds who attend Little Eaton Primary School recently walked 10 miles to raise funds for Macmillan.

The two girls, one of whom lives in Allestree, and the other in Little Eaton, came up with the idea of a walk for Macmillan during a conversation in the school playground in January, after a close relative of one of them died of cancer.

The plan came to fruition on Sunday, May 19, with a walk starting at Duffield church, and which took in Quarndon, Hazelwood, Makney, Holbrook and Little Eaton, before finishing back at Duffield. They had set themselves a target of raising £200, but have so far raised over £700.
