Local primary school pupils have raised enough money to buy four lifesaving pieces of equipment.
Children from Christ Church CE Primary School in Walsall, West Midlands completed a sponsored walk to purchase defibrillators for St John Ambulance.
The pupils had hoped to raise £1,200 but ended up smashing this target with an amazing £6,000.
The defibrillators were chosen by the school and can be used on both adults and children.
Mr Davies, Christ Church’s headteacher, said: "Making sure our pupils and staff are safe on site is our main priority, so increasing our scope so we can help people at our school in an emergency with a defibrillator was a natural step.
"We’re incredibly proud of all our pupils and staff for completing their challenge.
"Thanks to everyone who took part, our local community who supported us by giving everything they could to help us achieve our goal."
The extra defibrillators have been donated to Little Bloxwich CE Primary, County Bridge Primary and local soft play centre, Crash Bang Wallop.
In addition to supplying the lifesaving equipment, St John Ambulance is now giving people the confidence to use the devices through defibrillator awareness training.
Helen Mann, national telesales manager for St John Ambulance, said: "We’re in awe of the fundraising efforts of Christ Church Primary School and commend everyone for their excellent efforts.
"Each year in England approximately 60,000 people will experience a cardiac arrest.
"Every second counts when stepping in to help and these new defibrillators could save lives."
