A local charity is hosting a fundraising dinner to help families who are suffering from traumatic bereavement.

SmileForJoel - which is based in Wednesbury, West Midlands - is set to host 'Dining with Legends' on Thursday, March 3.

The event will take place at Copthorne Hotel in Dudley.

Mark Crossley, football coach and former professional footballer, and Ivan Brackenbury, comedian, will be star guests at the dinner.

On every table there will be an ex professional footballer, from clubs such as Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa.

SmileForJoel was set up by Suzy Evans and her son, Owen Richards after they lost three family members during the 2015 Tunisian terror attacks.

Owen managed to survive the attack.

He said: "We know that it's an event that Joel, Ade and my grandad Charles would love themselves.

"They were all huge football fans so it's nice to think this an event they would have been attending."

Guests will receive a three-course meal and can take part in an auction and raffle.

Owen said: "All the money raised throughout the night goes to supporting families in their darkest times who have been affected by homicide.

"We cannot change what's happened to them, but what we can do is hold people’s hand through the difficult times, let them know someone is there for them and give them a reason to smile.

"We are just so thankful that so many people have supported us year after year and allowed us to support so many family members.

"We know our boys would be proud”.
