As the British Heart Foundation (BHF) celebrates 60 years of research, the charity is encouraging ramblers to raise money to help fund the next 60 years.

39 rambling groups across Wales are being called upon to raise £600 as a group, as they walk, amble and ramble across the country.

Ramblers Cymru are being encouraged to engage with more walkers to raise more money to help support the charity.

Each group has been challenged to complete a 60,000 step walk, which will help more people get active and have fun while raising money.

With walking having a number of health benefits, including reducing your risk of high blood pressure and high cholesterol, it is the ideal fundraiser for the BHF.

Angela Charlton, Director at Ramblers Cymru said: “We are delighted to have teamed up with BHF Cymru to celebrate their 60th birthday.

“As a charity we want to see a happier, healthier Wales where walking is at the heart of every community. Walking is a great way to maintain and improve our health and wellbeing and we hope that this fundraising challenge will encourage even more people to get out and explore our beautiful nation.”

You can find a local group on the Rambler Cymru website and you can donate on the BHF JustGiving page after your walk.
