Westhumble volunteer awarded for 36 years of loyal service

A Westhumble woman who has completed an amazing 36 years of volunteering was just one of the volunteers honoured with long service certificates by for Citizens Advice recently.

The High Sheriff of Surrey, His Honour Christopher Critchlow DL, and Councillor Paul Potter, chairman of Mole Valley, attended the annual meeting of Citizens Advice at Denbies and presented long service certificates to 19 volunteers totalling 206 years of service. The recipient of the longest award was Elizabeth Moughton, from Westhumble who has completed 36 years of volunteering and retires in March. She said: "It has always been a privilege as well as a pleasure to work for Citizens Advice."

Both the High Sheriff and the Chairman of MVDC warmly thanked her and all the recipients for their wonderful service. The chair Tim Prideaux and CEO Debbie Jones reported on the 21/22 year.

Citizens Advice based in Dorking and in Leatherhead is a free confidential advice service on virtually any issue to everyone living in Mole Valley. This year they helped 11,000 people with over 15,000 issues. They do this with 51 volunteers, staff and trustees who give an estimated £254,000 of donated hours.

Two in every three clients had their problems solved; four in five said the advice improved their lives and nine out of 10 reported having good or very good service. They are increasingly busy in these very challenging times with client enquiries becoming increasingly more complex and urgent.
