HOSPICE GIVEN DONATION: St Luke's Cheshire Hospice gets £5,000 from Vale Royal Crematorium

St Luke's Cheshire Hospice has been given £5,000 to help provide care to patients.

The donation came from Vale Royal Crematorium, who raised the money through its metal recycling scheme. Metal is recovered during cremation and with the consent of families, it is recycled and the money raised goes to local causes surrounding the crematorium.

Almost 85% of the care provided by the hospice in Winsford, Cheshire, to those with life-threatening illnesses, is funded through donations, fundraising, a lottery and charity shops.

Vale Royal Crematorium site manager Dave Haslam said: “St Luke’s Hospice supports people in ways which go far beyond the scope and funding of the NHS.

“The charity provides a huge range of support, from end-of-life care to supporting carers, from helping children to cope with grief to helping patients return to work after an illness.

“We’re proud to be able to donate money to help them continue to make such a positive difference to lives of so many local people, when they need it the most.”
