SANTA'S SLEIGH: Pupils sitting in Santa's sleigh as they enjoy the festivities at the event

Pupils at St Margaret’s in Hertfordshire, got into the festive spirit recently as they performed traditional carols, met Sven the reindeer and sat in Santa's sleigh at their annual Christmas Fair.

The fair - which saw members of the Bushey community come together with pupils and their families - included a range of glittering stalls ran by pupils, alumnae and local businesses.

On offer was a ranger of handmade jewellery, artisan candles and crystals as well as handcrafted accessories such as handbags and recycled homewares. Other festive activities on offer included gingerbread men decorating, face painting and in the spirit of recycling, there was also a pre-loved Christmas jumper sale.

The St Margaret’s School choir delivered a beautiful carol concert under its marquee, dressed in fairy lights and decorations, performing many traditional favourites, such as Feliz Navidad and We Wish You a Merry Christmas, while a snow machine blasted a flurry of flakes into the air, creating quite the snowy spectacle.

Other pupils helped to keep everyone warm by making hot chocolates and with health and wellbeing being at the forefront of many people’s minds this season, the school’s Year 11 pupils ran a stall selling uplifting ‘positivity boxes’ to eager shoppers.

BUYING GIFTS: Visitors bought gifts from the stalls

As well as providing a wonderful gift-hunting opportunity for visitors, there was a Santa’s Grotto and a Santa’s sleigh for the children to sit inside, and the school was thrilled to welcome two gorgeous reindeer onto its campus, ‘Sven’ the reindeer was particularly popular with the younger children.

Head at St Margaret’s School,Lara Pechard, said: “Our annual Christmas Fair is always a highlight for the staff and children. This year we celebrated the season with a range of really thoughtful gift ideas as well as a stunning performance of traditional Christmas carols. We are all feeling the festive spirit right now and we would like to wish our local community and all of our staff, pupils and their families a wonderful Christmas.”
