Work begins for the next season at The Little Theatre

The latest news from Southport's Little Theatre

The final curtain has come down on the 2022/23 Season at The Little Theatre but our beautiful Hoghton Street building is still a hive of activity. Join us this Friday, 28th July in the bar for a read through of Home, I’m Darling.

We are presenting Laura Wade’s play as part of our next season. It will be performed in October 2023. The lead character, Judy, has a passion for the past and lives like a 1950s housewife in the present day – can this work alongside modern pressures?

Our director is Steve Pritchard and he will be there to outline his vision and provide audition pieces for anybody who wishes to audition the following week. We have an open casting policy at the Southport Dramatic Club – this means anybody can audition on the basis that if you are cast you then join the club!
Also in rehearsal is Agatha Christie’s murder mystery, Black Coffee which will be performed in September 2023.

However, our next show is on much sooner than that. Our incredibly talented youth theatre are presenting the hit musical version of The Addams Family which will be on our main stage from 23-26 August 2023.

Directed by Deborah Bloom and Jonathan Plunkett, the show is based on the characters devised by Charles Addams who you will know from the small and big screen!

This delightful musical comedy boasts fantastic choral numbers with gorgeous choreography as well as beautiful ballads. The opening number When You’re An Addams is a ghoulish graveyard gathering of the living, dead and undecided and reminds us of the kookiness of this clan.

Wednesday Addams, the daughter of Morticia and Gomez, loves her family but she has embarked on a relationship with a “normal” boy, Lucas. The difference in their familial cultures mean she is conflicted.

When Lucas’s family come over for dinner, Pugsley Addams slips a truth serum into the drink in an attempt to halt their union but things don’t quite go to plan – what will happen when all of the guests start disclosing their dreams and desires?
