Ayr Phoenix Folk Club is preparing to host a Burns night with a difference later this month.

The event, upstairs at the Market Inn, Castlehill Road, Ayr, South Ayrshire, on Tuesday, January 23, is billed as Burns Night: Nae Haggis Nae Neeps Nae

However, there is a feast of Burns’ songs and poems on the menu, served up by three ‘Masterchefs’ of music.

A spokesperson for Ayr Phoenix Folk Club said: “Ken O’Hara is a musician, artist, and professional actor. He is a regular on the Ayrshire music circuit and a popular Burns performer.

“In recent years, Ken has toured Ayrshire with his one-man shows and is well known for his performance of Tam o’Shanter and other Burns’ works.”

Also on the bill is Davie Hunter.

Davie is an MBE award-winning, guitar player, vocalist, Burns enthusiast and ex `Jannie.’  He was recognised for launching and developing Burns’ Bairns Group at Girvan Academy.

Paul Creighton will also appear on the night.

Paul is a multi-instrumentalist and has played in festivals in the UK, USA, and Canada.

A spokesperson for Ayr Phoenix Folk Club added: “Paul is a retired teacher having taught for 42 years. In recent years he has taught the works of Robert Burns at a summer school in Maryland, USA.”
